Memorial Scholarships & Funds
Give in Memory of a Loved One
You don’t need an established scholarship or fund to honor someone special. A memorial gift to CHCA is a meaningful way to celebrate a life and to invest in students growing to learn, lead, and serve. Every gift, of any size, helps carry a loved one’s legacy forward in the CHCA community.
To make a gift in memory of someone, simply give through GiveButter and note who you’re honoring. If you’d like to discuss creating a named fund or scholarship, we’d be glad to talk with you.
Firekeepers Scholarship
In Memory of Dylan Sougstad
The Firekeepers Scholarship is a character-based scholarship created to recognize and encourage students who reflect the same Christ-centered qualities Dylan embodied—students who lead with humility, compassion, courage, and a heart for others, all for God’s glory. Through this scholarship, Dylan’s legacy will continue to inspire and impact future generations of CHCA students.
Dylan Sougstad lived with a rare and beautiful fire—an inner light marked by love, compassion, authenticity, joy, courage, and gentle strength that lifted everyone around him. He had a unique way of making people feel seen, valued, and encouraged.
He was a force of nature, celebrated by his family as “the fastest kid alive,” or simply “the blur.” He was a beast on the soccer field, played basketball for the sheer joy of the game, and ran like the wind for the track team. For Dylan, sports were a passion, but his time being with friends was just as important. He was also a secret artist, possessing a remarkable talent for sketching that few were lucky enough to see.
Dylan’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. Deeply involved in Young Life, he loved God and Jesus, and was never seen without the cross he wore proudly. He was a young man of immense character and integrity. He was the heartbeat of every team, a natural leader who focused on lifting others higher. He was a protector and a gentleman, fiercely loyal to his friends and family.
Mimi Ehlen Memorial Library
We are grateful for your desire to honor Mimi Ehlen’s life. Your gift will expand the library Mimi established in her classroom, which will now bear her name in tribute.
Mimi’s love for literature was contagious among her students, friends, and family — a passion that led her to write a successful grant application in April 2018 to build an extensive collection of literary works for her students to explore. She understood the enduring value of the written page in a digital world, and within those pages, she connected her students to ideas and themes that stretched them intellectually and spiritually.
Her heart for using literature to shape her students is best captured in her own words, from that grant application:
“By reading about characters who are different from themselves and reading about places and situations different from their own, students can develop a broader understanding of God’s Kingdom. As followers of Christ, we are called to love one another. Loving others in reality is rooted in the understandings students glean from books and apply to their real-world encounters and perceptions. The world of books is a safe place for students to explore God’s creation.”
Mrs. Ehlen’s last words to her students, spoken just before Easter, were simple and full of hope: “He is risen!”
Katherine (Kt) Kincaid Scholarship
Kt’s joy, faith, and love for others continue to inspire the CHCA community. Her legacy is a lasting reminder of what it means to live with a Christ-centered heart and to care deeply for those around us.
The Katherine (Kt) Kincaid Scholarship extends that legacy by giving deserving students the opportunity to experience the same Christ-centered education and authentic community that Kt so deeply valued at CHCA. Through the generosity of others, scholarship recipients are reminded that they are part of a community shaped by love, faith, and generosity.
Every gift honors Kt, blesses the Kincaid family, and helps ensure that her impact continues to inspire and transform the lives of CHCA students.
Della Enns Private Music Lesson Scholarship
Della was a gifted pianist, singer, teacher, and spiritual mentor to many. She taught music to hundreds of CHCA students over her 21 years of dedicated service, accompanied countless ArtBeat auditions and final performances, directed vocals in multiple musical theatre productions, and led heart-changing outreach events with her students.
Della effortlessly brought people together. Always passionate about her beloved Armleder students, she created ways for her students at Founders’ Campus to sing and serve alongside her students at Armleder, forging deep and lasting connections between the two communities. Her impact on her students, as well as her co-workers, cannot be overstated.
Your gift to the Della Enns Scholarship will continue Della’s passion and legacy within the CHCA community through need-based private music lesson scholarships for students in grades 5–12.
