Service Intersession

An immersive week of hands-on service learning where students step outside the classroom to grow as thinkers, leaders, and followers of Christ — serving near and far with purpose and compassion.

Learn. Lead. Serve.

Service Intersession is a cornerstone of the CHCA experience — a dedicated week designed to connect faith and service through real-world engagement. Students choose a course placement that takes them into communities in Cincinnati and beyond, living out the school’s call to serve with purpose and compassion.

All 7th and 8th grade students select from the same course options, including travel-based placements.

Note for 8th grade families: To ensure variety and make room for new students, 8th graders may not repeat the same course they took during Service Intersession.

How Placement Works

Review course options

Beginning November 3, course descriptions will be available on the Veracross Parent Portal. Review them together with your student before submitting.

Submit your top three choices

Complete the online survey ranking three unique course preferences by November 13 at noon for priority consideration.

Placement and confirmation

On-time 8th grade submissions receive first priority, followed by on-time 7th grade submissions, then late submissions by time-stamp. If a course is oversubscribed, a blind lottery determines placement and a waitlist is created.

Register in UltraCamp

After receiving your placement confirmation on November 23, complete registration and submit your deposit in UltraCamp by December 4.

Payment Schedule

All payments are processed through UltraCamp. UltraCamp will send a 10-day advance reminder before each payment is automatically deducted.

  • December 4 | Deposit – 50% of course price (all courses)
  • January 8 | Second Payment (courses over $500)
  • February 5 | Third Payment (courses over $500)
  • March 5 | Fourth Payment (courses over $1,000)
    • Final Payment (courses under $500)

Refund policy: All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. If a student withdraws or is removed for disciplinary reasons, additional payments may not be refunded.

Tuition requirement: Students must be current on tuition payments to participate. If tuition is past due, a payment plan must be arranged with the Business Office. UltraCamp payments may be applied toward any outstanding tuition balance first.
